Milsons Point Urban Mapping


A previous architectural design studio focused on the Milsons Point Train Station where the brief demanded a response to an urban design and an intervention of space, it allowed for the design to be architectural, functional and sculptural. The dictating landscape of Milsons Point and the nearby infrastructure encourages a design that is respectful to the sense of place created by a space. The ability comes from the scale and impermenbility and a built form is primarily driven by cultural and social agendas. Like most cities, Sydney has a rich history, “local history is intrinsically entwined with land development and topography and research becomes the tool to unlock the secrets of history. For this project, correlation research will be conducted through a series of mappings, as shown below.
